We visited LACMA to see Chris Burden’s Metropolis II, a kinetic sculpture modeled resembling a fast-paced city. It was really cool to see all the cars and trains moving on the roadways through the city!
From LACMA, “[Metropolis II] includes 1,100 custom-designed cards, 18 highways, and a variety of architectural structures made of wood, glass, natural stone tiles, and other materials. The artist estimates that every hour, 100,000 card circulate through Metropolis II, making it very much like a miniature Los Angeles.”
Everything is so intricate! And I love the use of different building materials and colors.
