Today we tried a great Ramen place, Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai, in Costa Mesa. The ‘kitakata ramen’ is flat, wide and curly – very different from what we usually have and we loved it!
We had the Green Chili Shio Ramen which comes with toro chashu, green chili, cabbages, garlic, chives, red onions, and green onions. Extra toppings: egg and bamboo. Because of the green chili, the soup is actually quite spicy!
Aburi Chashu Bowl.
Tsukemen – The dipping soup is dashi shoyu base, with radish shoot, Japanese mustard spinach, bean sprouts, and carrots. Separate plate for chashu, lime, and grated radish.
Chicken karaage is a must to accompany ramen.
